Finally the results of Placement committee elections are out. Some would classify them surprising and some will call them shocking (no names) but at the end of the day no body could have predicted all the names of winning team. The GMP batch voted using the conventional ballot paper (We draw more inspiration from US elections than the Indian election). There were no attempts to capture booth or of luring voters with enticements. In case if there would ever arise a need for re elections, the batch will get EVMs and ISO certification for the election process.
Few take away of this election-
1. People trusted the election committee and they did a fabulous job. If we had more volunteers and less people to just comment we can organise more batch events .So first cheers are for Aditya, Milind, Pranit, Sachin, Sandeep, Sunil and Swastayan
2. Despite rumors’ that the verdict will be fragmented, the winning team has received large no of votes which goes on to prove when it comes to fair selection we can vote across the barriers of class and sectors.
3. Batch has voted for people whom they found sincere, approachable and amicable (Not that the others who lost out did not have these qualities)
4. Finally what it boils down to be is that batch wants action and so those victorious can rejoice tonight but they better get down to the norming stage of group formation at the earliest.
5. All the nominees (including me) had assured to help and support the place com and we for once can try and take a lead on building up on ideas we gave.
P.S I have deliberately not mentioned the name of winners – you will have enough chance to hog the lime light.
